Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup 185 g unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 14 oz / 397 g can sweetened full-fat condensed milk
  • 1 ¼ cups 156 g self-rising flour

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • 8-inch cake pan
  • Parchment paper (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a bowl, stir together applesauce and condensed milk until smooth.
  3. Add flour: Fold in the self-rising flour gently. The batter will be thick but spreadable. Don’t overmix or the cake may turn dense.
  4. Optional extras: Stir in sliced apples, walnuts, or raisins if you like.
  5. Bake: Spread the batter evenly in the pan. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Serve: Slice and enjoy as is, or dust with powdered sugar.
