Method
Preheat and Prep
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease it.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, and sugar.
Cut in the Butter
- Add the cold, cubed butter. Use a pastry cutter or fork to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Don’t overmix!
Add Cheese and Buttermilk
- Stir in the shredded cheddar. Then pour in the buttermilk and stir gently just until a dough forms. It’ll be slightly sticky—perfect.
Shape and Cut
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Pat it into a ¾-inch thick rectangle. Fold it over once or twice (this helps with layers), then cut out your biscuits.
Bake
- Place biscuits on the baking sheet. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
Make the Honey Butter
- While the biscuits bake, melt the butter with honey and salt in a small saucepan or microwave. Stir until smooth.
Brush and Serve
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the honey butter. Serve warm!
