Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Tea Latte

Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Tea Latte

Iced Butterfly Pea Flower Tea Latte is a refreshing blue tea drink made with butterfly pea flower tea, chilled water, milk, and ice. It has a mild, smooth taste with gentle sweetness and a creamy finish. The natural color makes it eye-catching, and a splash of lemon juice can shift the blue shade into purple. This drink feels light and cooling, perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dried butterfly pea flowers or 5–6 fresh butterfly pea flowers
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or plant-based like almond, coconut, or oat
  • 1 –2 tsp honey or preferred sweetener optional
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 tsp lemon juice optional, for color change
  • Extra butterfly pea flowers for garnish

Method

  1. Place butterfly pea flowers or tea bag into a heat-safe cup.
  2. Pour hot water over the flowers and let it steep for 3–5 minutes until deep blue.
  3. Strain out the flowers and stir in honey or sweetener while warm.
  4. Let the tea cool for a few minutes.
  5. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the cooled butterfly pea tea over the ice.
  7. Add milk slowly to create a layered look.
  8. Add lemon juice if a color change is desired.
  9. Garnish with extra flowers and serve right away.
My Tip: Pour milk slowly over the back of a spoon for a clean layered effect.

    Notes

    • 1. Steep time controls color depth.
    • 2. Lemon juice changes color fast, so add slowly.
    • 3. Plant-based milk works well for dairy-free needs.
    • 4. Serve right after assembling for best texture.
